Childhood is a timeless trait which peeps into one’s mind no matter what the age is. Just like childhood, at the peak of our life, we often long for boundless freedom, seeking adventures or hiding ourselves in the secured boundaries of a confined and secluded space with the illusions of our minds. We all seem to revisit that unfulfilled dream for a silent retreat, a personal unique neverland that would exist in the impenetrable harmony of nature. 

The purpose of the project is to re-capture one of those unfulfilled desire of childhood, to have that unapproachable place resting between the sky and ground- a ‘Tree House’, which would create a diluted combination of human vision and natural illusion.

No piece of built environment is ever destined to live ‘forever’ and the discovery of this obsolescent French castles symbolize the lost era of gothic grandeur adorned with epitome of rural France. The serene castles are some of those notable gothic ruins that tell us about surviving time’s passage and create an aura of ‘timelessness’.

Resting on an elevated space with a view of grotesque ruins can be an ambiguous escape from the chaotic life. A combination of human as well as natural action was to create through these tree house modules. The modules will give glances of floating castles against the limitless French countryside. Particularly the intra-level exploration illustrates the skittish and playful nature of our childhood. A sculptural volume opened up with windows, offers a floating tour through the adjacent greeneries. One can dive into the gentle breeze hitting through the treetops and have a relaxed flashback from childhood in the meticulous sauna as well. The smell and texture of the burnt wood is likely to give a vintage and rustic experience of the barbarian ruins. Here’s a chance to revive the child inside and the imaginary place one would build in the childhood. 

The chance to escape the humdrum of the city and indulge in the medieval beauty of the surroundings is something that takes our mind down the memory lane. The rustic French glimpse with soothing lights were always a pleasing experience to someone who would look through the vast meadows and vineyards. We tried to recreate the modules with such captivating warm lights to bring back the twinkling impression. Experiencing the timeless ambience of nature and reminiscing the buoyant memories of childhood within a tree shelter would be something we all will cherish forever.
